Summer is such a distracting season, taking us away from our indoor interests to enjoy the sun and warmer temps! I hope you’ve packed in your favorite Summer activities, maybe took some outdoor reference photos that will inspire Winter paintings, and relaxed a bit overall.

Chalkboard Art Workshop ~ September 27, Wednesday 6-8 p.m.
You’ll learn how to design a fab design in chalk art, hear all tips and tricks to make a successful project, and create this exact design with me step-by-step. Everyone can do it! Come with a friend for an artistic night out and private retail shopping at Dwell (BONUS!!!).

Coffee & Canvas ~ October 7, Saturday 10-2 p.m.
Located at the Curtis Arts Center, these Saturday workshops start the weekend on just the right creative note! We’re painting a pair of sunflowers against a big blue sky for October’s project. This is a fun project using acrylic paints, rice paper, and pastels for a mixed media piece. We supply all materials, great coffee with fruit and sweets, and a relaxed atmosphere. Beginners will feel comfortable as we paint this piece together. $30 includes every thing and registration is here.

Modern Calligraphy – Lettering in Colors! ~ October 9-30, Mondays 1-3:30 p.m.
Learn how to make beautiful letters at the Curtis Arts Center; this class runs for 5 Mondays. You’ll be learning pen and nib calligraphy lettering with India ink, brush lettering with Tombow markers, and script with watercolors, metallic inks, and a water brush pen. Think how rewarding it will be to letter your envelopes, personalized stationeries, and holiday menus. Registration and supply list is through Greenwood Village here.

Modern Calligraphy 101 ~November 4, Saturday 1-4 p.m. ~
Join us for an afternoon workshop at the Curtis Arts Center and learn modern calligraphy with a pointed pen and nib and traditional black ink calligraphy. This is the perfect combination for creating the thick and thin lines that are so distinctive in this trendy art form. There will be demonstrations of lettering and connecting letters to form words that you can use on invitations, announcements, and greeting cards. You’ll receive a packet of worksheets so you can continue your new art at home. Registration is here.

Basic Watercolor and Loose Floral Painting ~November 11, Saturday 10-3
Lots of you have asked for an introduction to watercolor painting and wanted to create the loose, colorful floral images popular on Instagram and Pinterest. Casual Watercolor: Painting Nature ~November 13-December 11, Mondays 1-3:30 p.m
This class runs for 5 Mondays at Curtis Arts Center. Yes, we’re casual because watercolor is taught at a comfortable level for beginning and intermediate student with plenty of demos and hand-outs each week. We’ll be painting from photo references of trees, skies, birds, mountains, flowers, and meadows. No better way to start the week than taking some time to nurture your inner artist. Coffee & Canvas ~ November 18, 10-2 p.m.
Join us Saturday morning at the Curtis Arts Center instead of raking leaves! We’re painting this wildly wonderful tree with happy vibrant acrylics. This is a layered technique using bold acrylic paints. We supply all materials, great coffee with fruit and sweets, and a relaxed atmosphere. Beginners will feel comfortable as we paint this piece together. $30 includes every thing and registration is here.

We’re finishing 2017 with a Rocky Mountain Night Sky painting. Come and bring a friend to the Curtis Arts Center and create this peaceful Colorado landscape that would make a wonderful gift if you can part with your art! You’ll be learning spattering and blending techniques with acrylic paints. Registration is $30 and includes every thing: coffee, yummies, and all your materials.
