Sneak peak behind the scenes

February 28, 2014

Recently I indulged my sweet tooth at my favorite local bakery. The whoopie pies looked so darn tempting with fluffy chocolate tops and overflowing cream centers. I had to buy a trio to paint them! Yes, typically fruits + vases = a great still-life. But here in Pennsylvania, we’re proud to be home of the whoopie pie (even though Maine begs to differ).

This is how the project took shape. I pulled a fab cake plate and a doily from the cupboard, and then stacked the pies. They needed a topper, so I made one out of kraft paper and wound it around dowels.

The brown kraft wasn’t feeling colorful enough, so I watercolored my own banner and VOILA!! Now it feels more like a party.

Here’s Winslow wishing he could reach those whoopies on the table….

Last, but not least, I scripted the word WHOOPIE and added it to the banner.
