Hoping your Summer has been joyful in a thousand ways! I’ve loved hearing from you about filling up your sketchbooks, tending your gardens, and traveling to see your loved ones. YES, that is exactly what I have been doing too.
Besides visiting my family in Pennsylvania and Paris, I’ve been painting and doing calligraphy too. Even though we artists love taking photographs of all the Summer flowers and gorgeous views, the warmer part of the day is best spent in the studio. So I’ve got piles of projects all around me:
The painting above was inspired by a photograph by Abhay Bharadwaj on Pixabay.com. Isn’t it wonderful when people share their photos? When I painted it, I changed some things around and approached it in my own way. It is good to bring yourself and your feelings about the subject into your process.
A lovely young couple I know is getting married in September, and I painted their wedding venue as a gift. The watercolor is the view of the Rockies as scene from where they will stand. I’m looking forward to lettering their escort cards and helping with some other personalized touches to their special day.
Shop Local
My art booth at Curate Mercantile is fluffed up and full of colorful goodies. I’ve added lots of new cards and art prints each month for our local and loyal shoppers. Retail Therapy nights are scheduled once a month, next one being Thursday, August 19 from 6-8 p.m.! Mark your calendars as all of us mark down prices to make way for Fall merchandise. Curate is a happy place, and I’m so grateful to be part of this small business of makers.
Speaking of Curate Mercantile, I’m offering two brand new workshops coming up! Let’s get back to tending our creative side! Hope to see you there!
Warmly,
