Julia Cameron calls a venture out into the world to experience new culture as “an artist’s date.” That’s exactly what I did on Saturday with a good friend. We saw every artist in every booth at the ASLD annual show. And we were invigorated and impressed by the talent right in our neighborhood.
Pictures speak louder than words, so here are a few of my favorites:
Susan, this chandelier is for you. Isn’t it Mah-valous? The colors are brave and glamorous, as is the subject.
On a quieter note, this Rocky Mountain scene captured my heart and invoked a sense of calm. The artist is J. Breese.
The whites of these daisies were so crisp and so vivid. Whites are not always an easy task. I complimented this artist, Tracy Wilson, and told her I could see her art as part of the Mount Gretna art show in August of each year back in my home state of Pennsylvania.
There were wood block prints by Theresa Haberkorn that were exceptional, kitchen art by Patricia Zilinski, and metal dress sculptures by Arabellas Metal that attracted lots of lookers.
I hope all these artists enjoyed the compliments they must have heard all day, and hopefully their pieces have found good homes.
Thanks, Jen, for treating us both to Em’s Ice Cream. Ginger for her, honey lavender for me. Perfect end to a wonderful art excursion.
Summer is a bustling season of art festivals. Why not check your local calendar to see what’s happening?
